Business

The Business and Enterprise curriculum at Sheffield Springs Academy gives students a strong understanding of how businesses operate, their role in society, and the economy. It builds enterprise, financial, and communication skills, encourages curiosity and ethical awareness, and prepares students to make informed decisions and succeed in future employment or entrepreneurship.

Curriculum

Our business and enterprise curriculum gives all of our students an understanding and insight into the world of work, looking at how businesses are established, run and how they benefit society. The business curriculum allows students to understand and look at: the economy, its people, how businesses operate and how they can run businesses ethically. We provide our students with opportunities to develop their enterprise skills and creativity and develop their understanding of finance in a business.

All students

  • Our curriculum enables all students to understand the economy, the role of business in society, how to analyse and evaluate different types of businesses and gain the skills necessary to gain employment and even develop their own entrepreneurial skills.
  • All students have the opportunity to develop their leadership, communication, and presentation skills, which are transferrable skills they can then apply to their further studies, employment in later life or their wider life experiences.
  • We believe that all students have the right to study and understand the world of business and enterprise, so that they can confidently navigate the world of business as adults.

Good Communication skills, Confidence and Curiosity

  • We develop students’ confidence and communication skills. Allow students to develop presentation skills and understanding how non-verbal communication such as body language is important
  • Encourages students’ curiosity of the wider world of business and how businesses operate in multiple markets across the world.

Development of a growth mindset

  • To continuously develop students, we want to expand their knowledge of business and their curiosity of how businesses need to develop to survive and need to be aware of external factors Worldwide that can impact them.
  • We expect our students to engage in further research and reading for them to extend their business knowledge beyond the classroom.

Reasoned judgements using numerical data

  • Students will be expected to call upon the Mathematical knowledge to look at business finance, financial formulas, and ratios to support businesses when making financial decisions.
