Welcome to our Community Hub.

The hub is a brand-new initiative to Sheffield Springs Academy designed to support our students, their parents and carers and our local community.

We know that communities are strongest together and this forms a central part of our hub ethos. We are committed to building positive relationships with the community the hub serves and to enabling community members to act on things that they care about.

Our aims are to:

Help our local community lead healthier, happier and better-connected lives.
Reduce isolation among our parents/carers and the wider community.
Offer a safe and supportive environment, in which local residents can thrive.
Promote change driven by both the school and the community.
Provide opportunities for community members to get involved, participate, volunteer, learn and to develop their skills and talents.
To improve social community cohesion.

Why:

Work with, and for, the local community.
Signposting to support or advice.
Utilising the skills and organisations within the community, this will extend and enrich learning opportunities and positively influence change.
Tackling poverty and other social issues.
Increase adult learning opportunities – in turn increasing support that children receive from their families.
Develop our facilities to help the community – improved perception of SSA.
This all benefits the school and links directly to the strategic priorities.

What's On?

Extra Curricular Sessions

Attending extracurricular sessions plays a vital role in developing essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management while building confidence, strengthening social connections, and enhancing academic performance. Beyond the classroom, these opportunities encourage resilience, creativity, and the exploration of personal interests, offering a fun, real-world application of skills and a positive break from studies, while supporting overall wellbeing and helping to shape well-rounded individuals prepared for higher education and future careers.

Our Ambition Fund

We believe that every student should have the opportunity to take part in educational visits, residentials, and enrichment experiences that broaden horizons and create lasting memories. Through our Ambition Fund, we may be able to provide additional support to families who would otherwise find it difficult for their child to attend a trip.

If you would like to be considered for support, please complete this form. All requests will be treated sensitively and confidentially. Our aim is to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent any student from accessing the valuable opportunities we offer.

We welcome Sean Greaves to the team as community hub lead. A role which is pivotal in raising our profile in the local community. Sean is an experienced youth worker who is from the local area. If you are interested in working alongside the school to support our young people in improving the local area, please get in touch with Sean via sean.greaves@sheffieldsprings.org.

Community voice is very important to us. We regularly sample the views and opinions of the community to be sure that we focus on the things that matter to you. Look out for the half termly community newsletter and follow the school on social media to see what we are currently working on, events that are coming up or things you can get involved in.
