The Role of our Head Students

Sheffield Springs Academy will have two Head Girls and two Head Boys from Y11 and two Deputy Head Girls and two Deputy Head Boys from Y10. They have to go through a rigorous interview process and work with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to represent and improve the school. Student Leaders are the school’s role models, the Head Girls/Boys are their role models and leaders. If you are a student with an excellent record of behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and uniform, who has demonstrated a commitment to the school, then you are a suitable candidate. A summary of the main responsibilities and tasks are - Representing the school at certain events (including making speeches), managing the student leaders, showing visitors around, meeting with school voice, reporting to Governors.

The purpose of our students leaders are to, jointly chair the Student Voice. You will make sure that student voice is represented in key decisions and developments within Sheffield Springs Academy. They will represent Sheffield Springs Academy and student body at a variety of public functions during the year, including prospective parents’ evenings for Year 7.

They will organise and plan regular meetings with the School Voice and ensure that decisions are carried out. They will represent and speak for all students in Sheffield Springs Academy and support and prepare activities that encourages and supports the learning of others.

They will be internal and external ambassadors for the school and to act as role models for all students at Sheffield Springs Academy and give key presentations about the school, for example to prospective parents and students at school events. Along with;

•            To greet important visitors to Sheffield Springs Academy.

•            To be involved in assemblies.

•            To attend one Governor’s meeting and report on how student voice has had an impact on the school’s planning.

•            To co-ordinate a team of student leaders

•            To ensure that student leaders perform their duties adequately

•            Charity and fund-raising events
