On Friday 10th April, 38 Sheffield Springs students set
sail for France; the home of fine cuisine, love and in our case, fun and
adventure. The students stayed at the
beautiful Chateau du Broutel on the outskirts of the ancient village of Rue. Here they challenged themselves and undertook
activities such as climbing and abseiling, canoeing and raft building and other
teambuilding and adventurous activities.
One of the most challenging aspects of the trip was using the local
language which everyone tried with various degrees of success. The local cuisine was received well with
everyone trying unfamiliar dishes. The
group explored Euro Disney where a good time was had by all before taking in
the breath-taking sights of Paris, in particular the Eiffel tower, the Champs
Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre.
All students were a credit to themselves, their families and the Academy,
they were willing to get involved, try new things and did so in a respectful
and courteous manner. Well done each and every one of you and thank you to Mr
Cliffe, Mr Howard, Ms Brice and Miss Spencer for making the trip possible.
One of the charities we are supporting this year is
the British Heart Foundation. On Wednesday 29th April we are
asking that you send your unwanted items into school. The British Heart Foundation will collect all
donations from the Academy the following day.
All items are sold in British Heart Foundation charity shops in
Sheffield and one bag of good quality items could generate up to £20 or more
for the BHF. What you need to do:
Fill a black bag with unwanted goods – quality
shoes, clothing, books, CDs, Videos, DVDs, toys and bric-a-brac
Drop the bag off at the Academy (during school
hours) on Wednesday 29th
April (please do not send any items to school before or after this date).
sincerely Yours sincerely Yours
