Dear Parents and Carers

Dates for your Diary

Friday 26th June 2015 – INSET day – Academy closed to students.

Revision: Maths

In preparation for the final Maths exam on Monday 8th June,  revision sessions for the “GCSE Paper 2 – Calculator” will take place on Saturday 6th June 10am – 1pm and Sunday 7th June 10am to 1pm.

Final Weeks

Many Y11 students are nearing the end of their examination period.  Students will not be required to attend the Academy once they have finished their final examination and all vocational coursework is completed and signed off by their teacher.  Some students will be released home early after Monday’s mathematics examination if this is their final exam and coursework requirements are satisfied.  Students will be given further details of the arrangements for the final few weeks of Y11 on Monday.  We may feel it necessary to release students earlier than the usual 3pm finish during the final weeks of Y11 examinations.

If this is likely to cause any inconvenience or issue please contact reception and arrangements can be made for your child to stay in the Academy.

We will be holding a leavers assembly for Y11 students on Thursday 11th June from 9:15am until 10:15am.  Full school uniform will be required at all times when in the Academy.

Last night we played two U14’s mixed rounders games against Tapton and All Saints.  The team played very well taking victory on both occasions.  We are hoping to continue in the tournament next week.  Well done to Sam Morley, Liam Fisher, Kieran Wright, Lewis White, Kian Shepard, Danen Crabtree, Shauna Travis, Saphire Roberts, Leah Hartley, Destiny Norman, Reina Nascimento.

Also last night the following students attended Woodburn Road Athletics Stadium competing in the qualifiers for the Sheffield City Athletics finals.  All students performed well and represented the school perfectly.  Well done to Albi Hoyle (Shot putt), Holly Akers (Shot putt) and Katie Sweet (200m) for qualifying for the City finals which will take place the first week in July.

Parental Focus Group

We want to establish a parental focus group that will meet during one evening next half term. The aim of this group would be to work with and advise the school on how it can engage parents, families and the local community.  This is an important part of our development as a school and we would appreciate your support one evening. The date will be confirmed immediately after half term.  If you wish to be involved please leave your name and contact number at reception.

Food Bank

If you are able to donate, please provide essential items such as; milk (UHT or powdered), sugar, fruit juice (cartons), soup, pasta sauces, sponge pudding (tinned), tomatoes (tinned), cereals, rice pudding (tinned), tea bags/instant coffee, instant mash potato, rice/pasta, tinned meat/fish, tinned fruit, jam, biscuits or snack bar.  We are also now in a position to accept toiletry items such as soaps, shower gels, deodorants and toilet rolls.

Your child can deliver items to the Academy shop during opening times (before school, break and at lunch time) or if you would prefer to bring the items yourself, donations can be made to our main reception.
