Dear Parents and Carers

Sheffield Springs Academy is now on twitter! To receive daily updates on life at the Academy please follow us at @springsacademy1.

We would like to advise that our uniform supplier “Pinders” will be in the Academy on Monday 14th July 4pm – 5pm in order for you to purchase items in readiness for September.

As part of our drive to develop the culture and ethos at Sheffield Springs Academy staff have been working with students on the “8 steps to success”.  This work raises the importance of key skills and qualities for great learning. This week’s theme has been listening.  Students have participated in assemblies and been set targets with the foci of;

  • Respond quickly and positively
  • Follow staff requests
  • Listen when staff speak
  • Be productive; complete all work to the best of your ability

Students and their families enjoyed an evening of talented performances when they attended the performing arts showcase on Wednesday evening.  It was great to see young talent in action.

On Thursday this week we welcomed Y6 students for their learning journey day prior to starting the Academy in September.  The day was a huge success with students meeting their new form tutor, making new friends and sampling springsboard lessons for the very first time. The day culminated with students feeding back why they thought Sheffield was such a great city to live in.  They all showed off their individually designed promotional t- shirts and spoke eloquently to their peers.  We cannot wait for them to join the Academy in September.

The annual Sports Presentation Evening was held in the Main Hall on Thursday.  Over 300 attendees arrived at Sheffield Springs Academy to witness former Olympic Silver Medallist and current World Champion at Skeleton, Shelley Rudman present awards. This year the U13 Girls football team won Team of the Year with Ross Barrows and Chloe Longden taking the most prestigious accolade of Male and Female Sports Performer of the Year Award.
