Izzuddin Sheikh is celebrating after taking first prize in the Science category (Years 10-13) at United Learning’s national Best in Everyone Secondary Awards.
The Best in Everyone Awards celebrate the exceptional achievements of students and staff at United Learning schools and academies across the country. They include awards for academic excellence, extracurricular achievements and for service to school communities.
Hundreds of nominations were received, which were then carefully considered by a judging panel, with Izzuddin nominated by his teachers for his outstanding achievements in science.
Whilst he regularly achieves over 90% in assessments, he constantly strives to further his own knowledge and understanding and attends Science Saturday School sessions. In winning this award, he saw off strong competition from a field of excellent candidates.
Izzuddin received his award, along with the other winners, at a special ceremony held at Oxford Town Hall on Friday 29 June. Collecting his award, Izzuddin said:
Thank you to all the teachers who have helped me in science, I feel really proud to be representing Sheffield Springs this evening.
Congratulating Izzuddin, Mark Shipman, Headteacher at Sheffield Springs Academy, said:
“Izzuddin’s work ethic is second to none and this dedication produces fantastic outcomes. He regularly helps others with their science work and is a real credit to our school community. He thoroughly deserves this award.”
