Sheffield United Football Festival

The Y8 Girls competed in the Sheffield United Football Festival yesterday.  It was a day of highs and lows unfortunately we did not qualify for the finals but we did have 2 outstanding games.  We beat Silverdale 3 – 0 with goals from Jade, Maddie and potentially goal of the tournament from Courtney, we also drew with King Ecberts (who were finalists), the team pulled together and worked for each other. I know the team found it an exhausting day but please congratulate them on their achievements.

Y10 Football

On Wednesday night the Y10 boys football team faced a tricky tie against Silverdale school. Springs got off to a perfect start when Blake was brought down in the area for a clear penalty. Jack calmly slotted home the penalty, and minutes after this he beat several opponents and again fired home for 2-0. During the second half Springs again dominated the tie, and extended their lead with goals from Jacob and Tyler. During the latter stages of the game Silverdale got a consolation goal, but this did not take anything away from an impressive performance in the goal by Mason . In the end Springs thoroughly deserved the 4-1 victory, and all the players were a credit to the school.

Poppy Appeal

Once again, our year 7 fundraising team, together with 6th form volunteers,  has helped our school display their respect for war heroes by going from form room to form room selling poppies.  The last two years we have raised £145 and £182 respectively.  Thank you to all staff and students who have contributed to this year’s Poppy Appeal.

The students are taking part in an after school climbing club and as a reward for completing the six week course, they will be attending a day`s climbing in Derbyshire. Nicola Minichiello, who has represented Great Britain in the Olympics in the bobsleigh event will be regularly attending the sessions and passing on her knowledge of how sport can inspire and motivate.
