Red Nose Day Fair!!!

Sheffield Springs Academy’s fund raising team had great fun planning and running a Red Nose Day fair. The team stayed behind on Thursday evening to decorate cookies, to be sold alongside fairy cakes, decorated by Mrs Taff’s child care class, and muffins donated by our catering staff.  Other stalls included: Name the Teddy and Guess The Number of Sweets in The Tub. The teddy was won by a year 8 student and is now named Barry. One of our teachers, Mrs Jackson, won the ‘Guess The Number of Sweets in The Tub’ by guessing spot on with 417 sweets!  Students were also able to show off their painted faces – very creatively done by our Performing Arts department – in our photo booth.

Well done to all involved and thank you to everyone for their support, and of course, their money.

Over £239 was raised by everyone’s efforts.

MEET THE INDUSTRY WITH INTO FILM FILMCLUB

VISIT FROM ADEYEMI MICHAEL – DOCUMENTARY FILM MAKER

Yemi graduated from the National Film and Television school in London and his graduation final documentary has done exceptional well in all the festivals around the world including the prestigious Sheffield Doc Fest.

Yemi attended a Y13 Creative media class for a chat and to show his film shorts, he then took part in a question and answer session with the students. Yemi also attended a Y7 English class to talk about what makes a good story and how to develop it into something more.

All the students that took part thoroughly enjoyed listening to Yemi and interacting with a question and answer chat. Yemi was both informative and inspirational talking about where he grew up on a london housing estate and relating his work to his own personal circumstances and the people around him.  It gave students an insight into how to achieve their ambitions and look at how the right choices can help bring a positive outcome.  It did also show that the wrong choices could sometimes be devastating.
