During the last year at Sheffield Springs Academy, students
have been busy raising money for charity.
Among the usual national events such as selling poppies for Remembrance
day, Children in Need and Sports Relief students have also been raising money for
3 chosen charities: a local charity, a national charity and an international
charity. This year’s chosen charities
have been Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Marie Curie and Oxfam.
During the year students participated in many events: bike
rides, cake bakes, sponsored silence, readathon and tug-of-war, just to name a
few. Some have been individually
motivated such as a bike ride around Rother Valley and a Macmillan coffee
Our students’ latest event has involved all of our year 7
students taking part in a sponsored walk/run around the school running
track. This was met with great
enthusiasm and for the most part all students enjoyed the challenge. Well done year 7!
Our next event will be a cake bake. A group of students will be baking after
school in the Academy’s cooking room (under staff supervision) and selling
their wares the next day on Friday 4th July during lunch.
Thank you to all who have supported our many events, and we
look forward to your continued support next year.
