Tommy Donbavand made our students scream – with laughter - when
he visited the Academy on Tuesday 14th January. During his character creations workshops he
worked with all our year 7 students, showing them how to create and give life
to a fictional character. They then had
the chance to create their own character and find ways that each character
within the working group could interact together.
After the workshops, all year 7 students were gathered
together for a question and answer session in the main hall. This session started out with Tommy talking
about how he became a writer and entertained the students with stories of his
childhood and the antics he got up to during this period of his life. Some, like the time he set fire to their tent
on a family camping holiday, had to be preceded with the words “Don’t try this
Speaking to the students after the event, they really
enjoyed the sessions with Tommy and, of course, half now aspire to be writers.
Thank you Tommy for an excellent visit!
