Year 7 students have stunned
their Springboard teachers and classmates with models of the tectonic hazard
that currently threatens many people and places globally. Inspiration has
been sought from studying the ancient Vesuvius eruption (Pompeii) in 79 A.D.
Entries to the class level competition have been varied, creative and really
shown off both group collaboration and independent thinking skills. We
have even seen smoke bellowing out of some and lava out of others. The
more technological entries have used game console games to create computerised
eruptions (set in Roman times). Students have judged their fellow
class mates on the following criteria; accuracy, creativity and geographical
explanation. A £10 Meadowhall voucher will be awarded to winners!
