Sheffield Springs Student Forum
On Thursday 16th June a group of students, ranging from years 7 to 6th form met to create the Sheffield Springs Student Forum. The students – R Clegg, O Daniels, L Jackson, S Smith, A Coggan, J Hardwick, J Hicks, T Newall, A Hallatt, G Hustler, M Pinder, L Simpson, E Russell and S Rajan Tholoor – were introduced into their new role by Mr E Joel, Assistant Principal: Specialism, Engagement and Enrichment and Mrs K Barker, Head of transition and Year 7.
The aim of the student forum is to have a student body to put forward valid and sensible requests and ideas from the student population in a democratic and professional way.
Members of the Sheffield Springs Student Forum have agreed that they should be easily identifiable to all students around school and have decided that the wearing of a badge would best achieve this. They have the intention of becoming high profile around the Academy to ensure that all students feel comfortable about speaking to them and have the confidence that any valid ideas or concerns will be dealt with in a respectful and (if necessary) confidential manner.
Ideas will be discussed as a whole group before being presented to the Senior Leadership Team, and full feedback will be given.
The students are already working on their first project; more details of this will follow.
