Performing Arts Facilities

We have fantastic facilities within Performing Arts for use in lessons and extra-curricular activities. We have three fully equipped studios for dance and drama lessons. The two drama studios include state of the art stage lighting and sound equipment. The dance studio has mirrors as well as a fully sprung floor and a fantastic sound system. In music, not only do the classrooms include an extensive range of musical equipment, but we also have a state of the art recording studio with three adjoining practice rooms for 1:1 instrumental and singing lessons. We have a proscenium arch theatre stage with full lighting rig, sound equipment and backstage area for use in lessons as well as providing a fantastic opportunity for regular performances. The Performing Arts team are supported by Ms P Brice who monitors and leads our student technical team.

KS3 – During Y7 each student will experience an aspect of each Performing Art. Each term the Performing Arts team will have a theme that will focus all the areas together to generate activities in drama, dance, music and media.

The Arts Award – In Y8, every student will have the opportunity to gain a level one qualification in Performing Arts called Arts Award Bronze. The students will learn skills, perform tasks and create projects in each learning area of Performing Arts in their weekly lessons. Arts Award Bronze is a nationally recognised qualification which allows our students access to higher achievements in the Performing Arts.

KS4 and 5 – Students have the opportunity to study dance, drama, music and media at BTEC level should they wish to do so. Students will spend 2 hours per week studying their chosen Performing Art and will develop a deeper understanding of the skills needed in this area.
