KS3 curriculum - Students are given the opportunity to explore a range of materials and techniques whilst studying various themed projects. Year 7 and Year 8 projects include Antonio Gaudi, Aboriginal art, Lettering and Typography, and Kandinsky: Art and Music. Students are encouraged to investigate and learn about other cultures and the work of other artists throughout their studies at KS3.
KS4 curriculum - At KS4 we offer the BTEC First Diploma and Certificate. Students who take the Diploma will study Art for 4 hours per week and students taking the Certificate will have 2 hours of Art lessons.
Both Qualifications offer students the opportunity to study a diverse range of briefs and allow them to develop their skills in a wide range of media including, drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles and print. All work at both diploma and certificate level is underpinned by the exploration of movements and schools in modern art history and the analysis of contemporary art and culture.
KS5 curriculum - At KS5 we offer a range of qualifications dependant on students' attainment and experience:
BTEC national diploma: level 3.
AS/A2 Level: Level 3.
BTEC First diploma: Level 2.
At KS5 Students are encouraged to develop their independent study skills and are given the opportunity to pursue individual lines of artistic enquiry related to their personal interests and influences.
What can it lead to?
Study at this level can lead to various degree level courses at University such as: Fine Art, Art History, Fashion Design, Graphic Design and many more.
Art and Design qualifications can also lead to a number of exciting careers in the creative industries including, fashion, web and multi media development, and graphic design.
