Key Stage 5 (KS5 Years 12 & 13)

We offer 2 qualifications at Key stage 5 (KS5) ICT which are aimed to allow all students to be able to continue developing their skills at KS5.

OCR National Level 3: - The course is a practical one with no external exams.  The students complete a range of units from a choice of the following: business, web design, video/sound creation, animation, spreadsheets and databases, e-commerce, digital photography.gadjet

This is a fantastic course for students who are more practically minded allowing them to further develop their skills from Level 2.  The qualification ranges from 1 A level to 3 A levels and is a good stepping stone to university qualifications that are more practically based.

AQA A level Applied ICT: - This course is a mix of practical and theory.  In years 12 & 13 the students have 1 exam and 2 pieces of coursework to complete.  In Y12 they complete unit 1 ICT and society (exam), and unit 2 ICT & Organisations (coursework) and unit 3 Data Handling (coursework).  In Y13 they have a choice of subjects including software development, advanced spreadsheet design and interactive Multimedia.  This qualification is highly valued at university.

At KS5 students have the option to study
Applied Business.  Through a combination of internal and external assessment students cover a range of topics that are integral to the world of work.  Units that students cover are Investigating Business, People in Business, Financial Monitoring and Planning at AS.

Units completed during A2 are Business Planning, People Management and Financial Accounting for Managers.  Applied Business is highly valued in Higher Education by universities.  On completing the course students are also equipped to enter the work place.
