Exams

Here at Springs Academy we pride ourselves on the way in which examinations are conducted.  Staff and students all work closely together to ensure everyone is confident and comfortable with their surroundings.  This ensures that all students can achieve their best in examinations.

Sheffield Springs Academy exam/coursework timetable will run between November 2010 and July 2011.  Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 will be involved in a variety of the examinations and controlled assessments.

GCSE qualifications now include a number of elements (or modules) which have to be completed in order for your child to obtain an overall grade; it is no longer just a case of sitting one written examination.
Each qualification can involve:
Controlled Assessments
Speaking tests
Coursework
Written Examinations
Practical Examinations

Our staff work extremely hard to ensure that the elements of each qualification are complete.  It is imperative that students attend every lesson and that they keep their coursework up to date in order to avoid increased pressure on themselves.

GCSE examinations now start as early as Year 9 so that students are able to have the best opportunity of securing their optimum grade.

We ask that, as students' examinations are taking place from Year 9, including coursework, controlled assessments and important work towards them, holidays are not taken in term time.

Our aim is to keep both students and parents up to date with relevant information at regular times so that everyone knows what to expect.

Our Mission Statement

“To enable all attending and willing students to be entered for examinations in GCE, GCSE, BTEC and/or other Key Stage 4/5 courses in all relevant subjects.”
