A magical trip to Grimm and Co Apothecary helped fire the imaginations of a group of young writers from the Academy.
Based in Rotherham, Grimm and Co is an imaginative space and community that inspires young people to write, running innovative storytelling workshops from its magically themed premises.
The group of 37 Year 7 and Year 8 students certainly drew inspiration from their visit to the ‘shop’ which took place on Thursday, 26th October, being tasked with finding the magical door, before writing a short story about their experiences.
The budding authors were then given a personal printed version of the story to take home, with the Academy also given a collective copy. In recognition of their enthusiasm and effort, the young visitors were also allowed to ride the magic beanstalk back to the ground floor.
Head of School Mark Shipman commented:
“The purpose of the trip was to promote more imaginative creative writing amongst our younger students, helping to inspire them to broaden their fiction reading. It certainly proved popular with those who took part, with many of them bringing back souvenirs from Grimm and Co’s magical realm!”
