Principal’s Letter - Friday 20th June 2014

Dear Parents and Carers

Attendance and punctuality of students remains a priority for the Academy. The majority of students have good attendance and are punctual to learning.  We would like to thank parents for supporting us with this.  From Monday 23rd June we will be operating a zero tolerance policy with regards lateness to school.  Any student who is late without reason will receive a 30 minute detention that evening.  Parents will be notified via text message.

As you are aware, we continue to take a firm stance regarding our uniform policy, particularly the necessity for appropriate footwear.  Students should attend the Academy wearing black shoes only, sanctions will be issued accordingly should any student fail to comply.  As ever, we welcome your support.

Y10 exams have just finished.  Well done to Y10 for their excellent behaviour and approach to this important step on their road to GCSE success.

The Y8 girl’s football team had a mixed day yesterday in Birmingham.  The day started well with the girls receiving some coaching and futsal tips and the Coach from Reading congratulating them and saying they were favourites!  All team members were polite to the referees and thanked the event organisers at the end of the day.  Unfortunately they ended fourth but well done on their success this season and for being the Academy’s most successful Y8 girls team ever, well done; Reina Nascimento, Chery Waby, Saphire Roberts, Ally Vaughan, Leah Hartley, Bliss Patterson and Chloe Longden.

Sheffield Springs Academy Sports Day 2014

On Wednesday the 18th June we celebrated yet another successful sports day.  On a cloudy and dreary morning, the mood was brightened by a number of school records being broken by Y9 and Y10 athletes. The sun came out in the afternoon and spirits were lifted, so much so that more records fell, this time by very excited Y7 and Y8 athletes.  The whole day was competed in good spirits demonstrating sportsmanship at all levels.  Each and every student should feel proud of their contribution towards making sports day such an enjoyable day creating and fantastic atmosphere.
